NYC – Part 2: There’s More

In September, Seraina and I went to New York City. It was my first trip there in a while and the first ever trip for Seraina, so I was super excited to take her to all the beautiful places and show her everything I love about this city. Or at least as much as we could fit in two weeks, which was quite a bit. And of course, we had to go and see Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Lady Liberty and all the other famous sights as well.

NYC – Part 1: NYCWLK 2.0

I hadn’t been to New York City since September 2014. This September – two years later – I finally got to go back. Seraina and I bought a super cheap ticket and booked us a nice and cozy Airbnb in Bed-Stuy.
Luckily, we were able to schedule our trip so I could attend NYCWLK 2.0, a photo walk initiated by Johnny and Rebecca Patience. I didn’t attended the walk the previous year, neither have I been to LNDNWLK, so I didn’t really know what to expect. In addition to the walk, they offered a black & white photography and darkroom printing workshop, which I signed up for.

The High Line

The High Line

After the redesign of my website, it’s time to start posting and tell you about some of the things I experienced throughout the last year or so. This has been delayed again because of technical difficulties with the new website.
We’ll start with a series of photos taken in one of New York City’s most popular parks, The High Line. Ever since I first visited this place a few years back, the railway track turned urban park has been one of my favorite places to withdraw from the fast pace of the city. I wanted to limit my taking photos to a small area of the city this time and decided to exclusively shoot on the High Line during that last visit.

New York City

Finally back to New York! I only stayed for less than a week, temperatures were freezing, I did not take all that many photos, but it was still great to be back. And I'm looking forward to the next time. The only warm day was the one before my flight back, it was around 13°/55° and the sun was shining. The next day, it was snowing heavily. My flight was delayed for four hours and the gate was changed three or four times. After changing to a rebooked plane in Berlin, my bag did not arrive in Zurich with me.

Winter in New York

Winter in New York

After about seven weeks in South America I came back to the city that never sleeps and stayed for another five days. Part of the footage for NYC in Motion was shot during these five days. Plus all the other photos posted here… I found some nice street art in Williamsburg, watched the sun setting behind the Flatiron Building and picked a real cold night to shoot some cityscapes in DUMBO’s Brooklyn Bridge Park.
